Dry Cupping 

Dry cupping involves skin suction into the cup and here skin is not slit to bleed. This step instead relies on suction and benefits that can be utilized by making an upward stretch of the superficial layer of the skin. This form of cupping works well in conjunction with deep tissue massage provided the cups work synergistically with the downward pressure received.

• Step 1: First, the therapist applies face wash to cleanse the relevant area and pats the skin dry.
• Step 2: Multiple cups are placed to the appropriate points.
• Step 3: This creates a vacuum by making an upward stretch and lifts the soft tissues or associated fascia.
• Step 4: This induces stretch effects, resulting in a reduction of associated pain and muscle tension.  
• Step 5: The cup is left at the site for a while (static dry cupping) or moved all over to provide a massage effect (moving dry cupping).
• Step 6: Once enough suction has occurred, the step is followed with deep tissue massage. 
• Step 7: To further aid the movement, the therapist may add massage oil. 
• Step 8: This gives a relaxing and relieving sensation.  
• Step 9: Afterward, antibiotic ointments may be applied to prevent infection.
